Ghostcycle - Bicycle Accident Database

Ghost CyclesTransportation agencies at various levels spend a lot of time and effort collecting, managing and reporting traffic accident data. However, GhostCycle.org offers a nifty solution of letting the public assist in collecting and reporting bike accident data for the Seattle area.

Basically, if you are involved in a bicycle accident you can submit your accident report to Ghostcycle. Your accident data will be reported on a map showing the locations of other bicycle accidents. By clicking on an accident on the map you can review the details of the incident. A statistics page keeps track of items such as percentage of incidents involved with vehicles and the ratio of hit-and run accidents involving a vehicle.

Hopefully, Ghostcycle can implement a strategy to prevent bogus reports from being submitted because as long as the data is honest it could be a valuable resource for the public and traffic engineers in locating trouble spots.
