It Didn't Quite Turn Out
It will be a planned, controlled community, a showcase for American industry and research, schools, cultural and educational opportunities. In ____ there will be no slum areas because we won't let them develop. There will be no landowners and therefore no voting control. People will rent houses instead of buying them, and at modest rentals. There will be no retirees; everyone must be employed.
Who said this? Where is he/she talking about? The Answer. Of course, it didn't quite turn out as planned.

Places that limit personal freedoms never work out.

I think that the problem is the broad restrictions that are in place. If you choose to restrict yourself in some way, that's fine. But what if you no longer have the personal freedom to choose your car color? The city color standard is lime green, and that's what your car has to be. Everyone loves this color car but a select few, and the few are just out of luck. It's an extreme example, but I'm just using it to make a point.
Not everynone can agree on the restrictions that are in place, and that fosters conflict.
I'm sure that homogeneous neighborhoods work out all the time, it's just that a few people will always be dissatisfied with the way things are set up, but they are willing to make that compromise in order to reap the benifits of a secure environment.
